UNDERSTANDING CARD GRADES

The PSA and BGS grading scales run from 1 (Poor) to 10 (Gem Mint). For investment purposes, only PSA 9 (Mint) and PSA 10 (Gem Mint) are considered investment-grade. A PSA 10 Daredevil card commands 8x the value of a raw (ungraded) copy — making the grading investment highly worthwhile for any card in near-perfect condition. BGS uses a more granular half-point scale and awards a coveted BGS 10 Black Label for cards with four perfect sub-grades.

02

SURFACE EXAMINATION

The 2025 Daredevil card uses a gloss-coated surface that is susceptible to print defects and handling scratches. Examine the card surface under bright light at multiple angles. Look for: print lines (horizontal or vertical lines in the print), scratches (fine lines from handling), and print spots (small dots of missing or excess ink). Any visible surface defect will prevent a PSA 10 grade.

03

CORNER ASSESSMENT

Corners are the most critical factor for Daredevil cards. The card's red costume design means that corner wear — which typically appears as white fraying — is immediately visible against the dark background. Examine all four corners under magnification. For PSA 10, corners must be sharp and perfectly formed with no fraying, nicking, or rounding. Even microscopic corner wear will result in a PSA 9 or lower.

04

CENTERING ANALYSIS

Centering is measured as a ratio of border widths (e.g., 55/45 means the left border is 55% of the total horizontal space). PSA 10 requires centering of 60/40 or better on both axes. To measure: use a ruler to measure the left and right borders, then calculate the ratio. Cards with centering outside 60/40 on either axis are unlikely to achieve PSA 10, regardless of other factors.

05

AUTHENTICATION RED FLAGS

Watch for these signs of card manipulation: Trimming (edges that appear too sharp or uniform under magnification), Cleaning (surface that appears artificially bright or has a slightly different texture), Color touch-up (areas of slightly different color density under UV light), and Re-holdering (PSA cases that show signs of tampering or have mismatched serial numbers). Never purchase raw cards from unknown sources without careful examination.

06

SUBMISSION STRATEGY

For Daredevil cards, CBH Intelligence recommends PSA as the primary grading service due to its higher market acceptance and liquidity premium. Submit via the Economy tier ($25/card, 45-day turnaround) for cards you believe will grade PSA 9. Use Express tier ($150/card, 5-day turnaround) only for cards you are confident will grade PSA 10. Bulk submissions of 20+ cards receive a 15% discount — ideal for collectors with multiple copies.

"A PSA 10 Daredevil card is worth 8x a raw copy. The grading investment pays for itself within months."

⚡ FIRST APPEARANCE INTEL
Daredevil first appeared in Daredevil #1 (April 1964). His 2025 Topps card benefits from the Netflix series renaissance and the MCU's Born Again series. The character's red costume, introduced in issue #7, makes corner wear particularly visible — a key consideration for grading.
